Figure skating photo gallery from ''An Evening with Champions'' 2012.
First of all, I confess I didn't plan to write anything. I wanted to show only a photo gallery, but hubpages authorities didn't allow me to publish a hub without any words. In my second attempt to publish it I wrote some common phrases about Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where all the profits from ''An Evening with Champions'' go, about John Misha Petkevich who started this show in 1971, and about Harvard students and casts. A few hours later I got a message, saying that a lot of such information already exists on the Internet and I need to write something different. Since I cannot say anything new about this I will just share my impressions about this annual show.
I have been attending this show since 2005 when I was invited by my friend who works at Harvard. Throughout the years many figure skating stars from the past and present participated in the show, together with promising kids from the Boston area. We have had the opportunities to see Belbin-Agosto, Kulik, Gordeeva, Totmianina-Marinin, Czisny, Rippon, Belousova-Protopopov and many more. Last year we even saw a very special guest, the current skating queen Yu-Na Kim. Her appearance made last year's show very popular. The tickets were sold out right away and there was a huge crowd of fans was standing in front of the building before and after show.
This year show didn't have such names, but it was very pleasing too. Among the cast were Kimmie Meissner, Jeremy Abbott, Ryan Bradley, Kim Navarri-Brent Bommentre, Anastasia Cannuscio-Colin McManis, Agnes Zawadzki, Christina Gao, Marissa Castelli-Simon Shnapir , Kylie Duarte-Colin Grafton, some kids and a synchronized skating team. The hosts were Emily Hughes and Paul Wayne.
Kimmie Meissner, who won the World Championship in 2006 skated to the ballad ''Skinny love''. She looked beautiful and expressive, she grow up a lot and matured. Glad to see her on the ice again. Ryan Bradley's program was very entertaining, he was dancing around the ice, did a back flip and crowd greeted him well. He is a guy who looks better in a show than in competition. Jeremy Abbott tried quads in his program. He made plenty of mistakes in his short program and I was worried how he going to skate in competition in two weeks. Marissa Castelli-Simon Shnapir skated in the show last year and their technical improvement was noticeable. I realized that I photographed them more then other skaters because they had thrilling lifts. Agnes Zawadzki skated to ''I will always love you'' by Whitney Houston. She skated well, did good jumps and a pretty lay back spin.
